Malmi Cleaning Day - Helsinki GreenInCities Pilot

The Helsinki GreenInCities pilot is underway!

The Forum Virium Helsinki team organised an outreach event to promote the project locally and conduct map-based surveys to gather citizens' visions and wishes for the Longinoja area, located in the Malmi district, one of Helsinki’s suburban regeneration areas.

Helsinki’s ambitious goal is to help achieving carbon neutrality, fostering equality across its diverse districts, each with its own unique identity.

The project aims to increase biodiversity in Longinoja and create opportunities for Malmi residents to experience local nature, implementing innovative solutions to preserve biodiversity and enhance the park's greenery, ensuring that Longinoja remains a vibrant and distinctive area for all to enjoy.

Forum Virium Helsinki is in charge of the local pilots implementation together with the City of Helsinki’s Urban Environment Division.

The city will gain more knowledge on the use of nature-based solutions, strengthen the attractiveness and appeal of the intervention areas and get further knowledge on how to utilise new digital solutions for participatory placemaking.
