Functional spaces to enhance public welfare 

THE CONTEXT

The city follows the main objectives of the 100 NetZero Cities as a member aiming to reach climate neutrality by 2030.

INTERVENTION AREA

The pilot point of action is Őz Street, an area characterised by poor-quality prefabricated houses with inadequate green spaces and non-functional public spaces.

TARGET GROUPS

Human target groups: multi-ethnic industrial district, users of the sport facilities, children and families.

Non-human target groups: autochthonous species (birds and pollinators) and flora.

PLANS

The main objective of the pilot is to co-design new green areas with social, economic and welfare functions to create multifunctional community spaces by developing solutions such as a rain garden combining temporary water retention and food production with a place for outdoor gathering and educational purposes.
